Tesla has just made a huge contribution to Hawaii’s energy!

La tesla va bientôt alimenter l'île hawaïenne de Kauai à travers l'utilisation de son énorme ferme solaire, composée de panneaux solaires et de grandes batteries.
Le projet a été officiellement dévoilé mercredi matin à Kauai après les remarques faites par le directeur technique JB Straubel et David Ige, gouverneur d'Hawaï. Tesla et Utility Cooperative de Kauai Island ont fait équipe
pour dévoiler le projet.
La ferme solaire dispose d'un impressionnant 54.978 panneaux solaires avec 13 mégawatts de capacité de production solaire. Peut-être le plus grand exploit du projet a été l'installation de 272 grandes batteries, qui stockent
l'énergie créée pour alimenter l'île la nuit.
Le système va être activé dans plusieurs phases différentes. Une fois complètement opérationnel, Tesla estime que le projet permettra d'économiser 1,6 million de gallons de carburant par an.
Tesla plonge dans l'énergie solaire suite à l'acquisition d'une ville solaire  (SolarCity )en novembre dernier. La tesla alimente également presque toute l'île de Ta'u aux Samoa américaines avec l'énergie solaire et ses Powerpacks.
KIUC a signé un contrat avec tesla pour acheter 1 kilowattheure d'électricité pour 0,19 dollar sur une période de 20 ans.

Tesla will soon power the Hawaiian island of Kauai through the use of its enormous new solar farm, consisting of solar panels and large battery packs.
The project was officially unveiled on Wednesday morning in Kauai after remarks made by CTO JB Straubel and David Ige, governor of Hawaii. Tesla and Utility Cooperative of Kauai Island teamed together 

to unveil the project.
The solar farm has a staggering 54,978 solar panels with 13 megawatts of solar generation capacity. Perhaps the biggest feat of the project was the installation of 272 large battery power packs, which store 

the energy created in order to power the island at night.
The system is going to be turned on in several different phases. Once completely operational, its estimated by Tesla that the project will save 1.6 million gallons of fuel per year.
Tesla is diving into solar energy following its acquisition of last November. Tesla is also powering nearly the entire island of Ta’u in American Samoa with solar power and its Powerpacks.
KIUC signed a contract with Tesla to purchase 1 kilowatt-hour of electricity for $.139 over a 20-year time frame.
